ART CLASSES in BOURTON

I call the classes I teach ART JOY, as I believe that getting in touch with our creativity and being expressive

takes us away from our everyday concerns. Time spent making can reduce stress, and bring us joy.

I teach in an informal and friendly way as I demonstrate techniques and share examples of work by other artists. I have a maximum of five in a class so I can give everyone a lot of my time and help.

Students grow in confidence as they learn to draw and paint with me.

We share happy social time too, with tea breaks taken up at the house, or in the garden when we can do.

It doesn't matter if you haven't picked up a pencil since school, everyone is welcome to my classes !

"Clare is a brilliant teacher and her studio is a lovely space. I really enjoy her classes."

"Clare is very encouraging and I am thrilled with what I achieved.

I have framed some of my work !"

COU COU Studio is set in a lovely garden in the the Vale of White Horse. You can see the ancient earthwork and hill fort from the garden.

After working in many urban and shared studios, Clare loves working here and enjoys sharing it with others.

Those who spend time in the studio find it a creative and tranquil place.

Rich in colour and gestural mark making, her drawings combine observation with images from memory, imagination and folklore. They are often inspired by the natural world - the garden and landscape of the Vale of White Horse in Oxfordshire, where she lives and has her studio. You can view some of her drawings and prints here

Clare has lectured in fine art in higher education in the UK and abroad. She has run art classes for children, and for youth projects. She now teaches small group beginner art classes in her studio.
